Introduction to Animal Activism via Online Info Booths (by VSA NL)

Do you want to be active for the animals, but are not sure how? Does ‘activism‘ sound scary to you, weird, far away, uncomfortable? Or do you just need some more inspiration? Then this online event is for you!!On Thursday, October 26th, from 19:00-21:00, we are offering an exciting online event:

Introduction to Animal Activism – online info booths. Different speakers will present what types of activism they do, and will be there to answer any questions you might have.

This is an open event. Feel free to invite friends or others who are interested in doing animal rights activism, but might not be sure how. Make sure they sign up as well so they can receive the link!

Speakers will include:

• Enric is a Campaign Coordinator for the Plant Based Treaty at The Save Movement. He is also one of the organizers of the Dutch Anti-Fur Movement, which is part of the umbrella organization Abolish Fur Worldwide. Enric focuses on pressure campaigns, community building, lobbying, and policy making.
• Christina an animal rights activist since February of this year. Quickly after, she decided to become a local organizer for the upcoming activist group We The Free, organizing monthly 3-Minute Movie Challenges. At the same time, she became a board member of the VSA in Utrecht, eager to make a difference within her local community. Now, she and her fellow VSA-members are working on a campaign to advocate for a fully plant-based catering system at Utrecht University.
• Lea is the national coordinator for Save Movement. Save organizes vigils at slaughterhouses, a powerful form of activism that puts a face to the anonymous animals in the industry, as well as street outreach events. During their Save Squares, passerbys are confronted with images from the industry and can talk to the activists about what is behind their food choices.
• Lucia went from general vounteer to coordinator of Utrechts chapter of Bite Back. She has organised different types of protest and marches there. She helped organize the big march to close all slaughterhouses in Amsterdam, been a steward at the march in Brussels and run infoboots at events. Since this year she is closely involved with a pressure campaign to close the Dolfinarium Harderwijk.
